Gisella Dalton Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 18, 2025.
Gisella Dalton ObituaryGisella Rita Dalton, of Avon-by-the-Sea, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, July 26th, 2025.
A strong, vivacious, and accomplished woman, she was born in Asmara, Eritrea in 1951, and emigrated to America in 1955, with her parents and sister on the Andrea Doria. Throughout her life, she fondly remembered the scent of lemon trees and the roar of the lions from her youth.
She graduated from Ocean Township High School in 1969. For 28 years, Gisella proudly served the United States Army and Department of Defense as a Contract Specialist achieving the rank of GS-12 and receiving numerous awards for her work negotiating contracts in aerospace for our country's defense with Raytheon, Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin, and Boeing, among others.
Mourning her loss are her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, and nephews including: Jimmie Lee (son), Stacy (daughter-in-law), and Simon Dalton (grandson); David (son-in-law), Jacqueline (daughter), Michael Joseph, and David Edmund Fiorito (grandsons); Benjamin Dalton (son); Anna Marie Mattern (sister); Dominic Riccio (brother); and Paul Riccio; along with all of her nieces and nephews whom she loved and adored.
Gisella had an immense passion and sense of adventure related to land and sea, particularly in Monmouth County, New Jersey. Her greatest joy was being a grandmother and instilling her love of history, ships, and the great unknown to her grandsons and everyone around her.
In lieu of flowers the family requests for donations to be made in her memory to the Friends of Monmouth County Parks. For condolences please visit www.fiorefuneralhomes.com
