Mr. Glade Taylor Hall

ELGIN, S.C. - Glade Taylor Hall, 69, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2008 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Northampton, Massachusetts. He was the son of the late Dr. Glade P. Hall and Grace Hall. He was a graduate of Greenfield Community College as a Registered Nurse. He was employed at the former Northampton State Hospital in Massachusetts, the South Carolina Department of Mental Health, and was a nursing administrator at the Tucker Center in Columbia. Mr. Hall was a member of Shandon Baptist Church. He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Henrietta P. Hall; his daughters, Ashley Hall Horvat and her husband, Damir of Columbia, S.C. and Kimberly D. Soutra and her husband, Scott of Southampton, Mass.; sons Austin G. Hall of Elgin, S.C. and Glade D. Hall and his wife, Cindy of Easthampton, Mass.; grandchildren, Damiean Hall of Elgin, S.C. who shared a very special relationship with his grandfather and Glade Jr., Rachel, Stephanie and Jennifer Hall, and Jonathan and Christopher Soutra, all of Mass.; brother, Garrison K. Hall and his wife, Gail of Spartanburg, S.C.; sisters, Gloria Hall Nichols of Williamsburg, Mass., Glenda Hall of Westhampton, Mass. and Gleda Takeuchi of Japan; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Clarke D. Hall. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the S.C. Heart Association, 520 Gervais St., Suite 300, Columbia, S.C. 29201 or to the American Diabetes Association, 2418 Blue Ridge Rd., Raleigh, NC. 27607. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Glade was a kind, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, friend, and teacher and will be greatly missed. A memorial service to celebrate the life of this remarkable man and the lives that he touched will be held Friday, August 22, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at Shandon Baptist Church, 5250 Forest Drive, Columbia, S.C. 29206.
