NEWBURGH-Gladys J. Hackett, 89, passed from this world to her heavenly home on September 20, 2024, at her home in Newburgh, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on December 11, 1934, in South Brewer, Maine, a daughter of the late Ernest and Gladys (LeGuff) Puffer. She attended Brewer schools and married her soul mate, Lledrew, in 1952. They shared 72 years of marriage.
Gladys worked as a hand sewer in several shoe shops. She was a loving wife, mom, and grandmother who enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crossword puzzles. She was a wonderful homemaker, a terrific cook, and always looked forward to sharing the holidays with her family. She was a faithful attender of the Brooks Pentecostal Church.
She is survived by her loving husband, Lledrew Hackett Sr; children: Roxanne Sanders of Frankfort, Lledrew Hackett Jr of Orrington, Mark Hackett of Winterport, and Diane McCauseland of Eddington; grandchildren: Ryan, Brian, and Mike; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; and siblings: Helen, Katherine, Sterling, and A. June.
A time of visiting will be held from 3-4 p.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 4 p.m., Sunday, September 29, 2024, at the Brooks Pentecostal Church with Pastor Matt Shaw officiating. A gathering will follow in the church fellowship hall. A committal will be held at 4:30 p.m., Monday, September 30, 2024, at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Lebanon Street in Winterport.
