Avon, Indiana – Gladys Mae Irwin passed away on October 18, 2023. Gladys was born to Alva and Wilma (Owens) Hamilton on September 29, 1938, in Terre Haute Indiana. She was 85 years old.
Gladys worked many years for Jenn Air as a line worker until her eventual retirement. More than that though, she was a loving and beloved mother, grandmother, and friend. She would give you the shirt off her back if you needed it. No one felt unloved in her presence.
In her free time, Gladys loved to paint, draw, sew, work her crosswords and word search puzzles . A crafter until her passing, she would love to make gifts for her family and friends. She also loved to bargain hunt, making outings with her children all around Indiana to visit garage sales or even visit the shops Nashville, Indiana. When relaxing, she might be listening to country music, watching a Hallmark movie, or even her classic black and white westerns.
In addition to her parents, Alva and Wilma; Gladys is preceded in death by her sister Martha Ann Irwin, former husband and forever friend, Phillip Irwin Sr., her daughter Leslie Marie (Irwin) Netter (Mark); grandson Phillip Joseph (PJ); nephews Brian and Ricky; and her niece Rhonda.She is survived by her children, Lisa Ann (Irwin) Guidone (Joe), Sherri Lynn (Irwin) March (John), Phillip Hamilton Irwin (Becky), Michelle Raye (Irwin) Rafferty (dearly missed husband Michael), Michael Brian Irwin (Heather); her nephew, Duane E Irwin; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends and family will gather for visitation from 11 am – 1 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park (9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229) on Thursday, October 26, 2023, with funeral services following at 1 pm with Pastor A.J. Geralds presiding.
