Gladys Melvina Nadine (McCoy) Han Winsel, age 91, of Vian, Oklahoma, passed away on January 20, 2025. Born on June 25, 1933, in Evening Shade, Sequoyah County, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Jessie Marie (Plum) McCoy and Stand Waite McCoy.
Gladys was married to Clifford Winsel, who predeceased her on June 6, 1982. She dedicated her life to her family and work, having been a talented seamstress, a retired operator at Sequoyah Fuels, and having spent time in the cafeteria at Vian Public School. She was educated at Dwight Mission School and was of the Pentecostal faith.
She is survived by her daughter, Linda Han-Carter of Vian, Oklahoma; her son, Robert Pete Han of Okmulgee, Oklahoma; three grandchildren, Roxanna Han, Rosanna Han and companion Ronnie, and Justin Han and Alena; and five great-grandchildren, Tyler, Roderick, Owen, Noah, and Liam.
Gladys is also remembered by her two sisters, Dorothy McMahan and Lois Hart and Carroll Rabbitt Hart of Vian, Oklahoma; her brother, Larry McCoy and Polly of Beggs, Oklahoma; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will cherish her memory.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, three grandchildren: Donnie Stanhope, Jr., Brent Bebo Carter, and Ronelle Han; three sisters: Betty Lou Brown, Alice Scoggins, and Christine Miska; and five brothers: Elight McCoy, Alex McCoy, Norman McCoy, Ray McCoy, and O.W. "Don" McCoy.
A funeral service will be held in her honor at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 24, 2025, at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, with burial following at Dwight Mission Cemetery in Marble City, Oklahoma. The service is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active pallbearers will include Justin Han, Michael Hart, Phil McCoy, Bub Morris, Steve Reaves, Jason Macwater, Frank Lincoln, and Adam Lageveen. Honorary pallbearers will be Carroll Rabbitt Hart, Steve Chandler, Adam Lageveen, and Ronnie Long. Flowerbearers will be Roxanna and Rosanna Han.
Viewing will take place from noon to 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet friends 6 - 8 PM.
Gladys will be fondly remembered and deeply missed by all who knew her.
