Gladys (Bean) Waz
BRSITOL
Gladys (Bean) Waz, 93 of Bristol passed away surrounded by her loved ones on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
Born on January 8, 1932 in Dead River, Maine, Gladys was the daughter of the late Olon and Beulah (Ellis) Bean. Gladys took pride in the fact that she was the only and last one of her graduating class in Dead River. Soon after her graduation she left Maine to begin a new chapter in Connecticut. A proud Mainer at heart, Gladys carried the spirit of her home state wherever she went. She enjoyed sharing stories of her early years with her family and friends and, even well into her 80s, made regular journeys back to Maine.
For over 30 years, Gladys dedicated her time and talents to General Electric, where she worked in both assembly and administration. In her 50s, she made the courageous decision to return to school, enrolling at Tunxis Community College, where she earned her Associate's Degree in Computer Science, an achievement that filled her with pride. Her passion for technology blossomed from that point on; Gladys became known for her computer savviness and for sharing her knowledge with others, teaching classes at the local Senior Center. Gladys loved to travel with the company of her friends and made many cherished memories.
Now reunited with her daughter, Katherine (Gonska) Pietrowicz, she leaves behind granddaughters and great-granddaughters who were her greatest joy. She was their biggest supporter, cheering them on at every sporting event, milestone, and dream they pursued.
Those who knew Gladys will remember her as strong, independent and determined.
She will be missed dearly by her granddaughters, Christine Pietrowicz-Joanis, her husband Benedict and their daughter Annabelle; Katie Martineau, her husband Chad and their daughters, Lillian and Brooke; her nephews, Vernon, Glen and Nathan Bean. She was predeceased by her daughter Katherine Gonska Pietrowicz, her former husband Walter Gonska, her brother Vernon Bean, wife Joan and nephew Ricky Bean.
Gladys' family extends their sincerest gratitude to the nurses and aides at KindCare in Bristol and the Brighton Hospice team for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, Gladys' love for her feline companions may be remembered with contributions to the CT Humane Society at 701 Russel Rd, Newington Ct 06111 or
