Glen R. Platt, 93, of Colfax, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family
on Friday, September 20, 2024, at his residence.
He was born January 21, 1931, in Clarks Hill, IN, to the late Lloyd and Cloe (Fleming) Platt.
Glen graduated from Clarks Hill High School and went on to serve in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged.
On May 31, 1957, he married Martha Ellen Coopman at Clarks Hill Christian Church. She preceded Glen in death on March 14, 2020.
Glen worked as a carpenter for the Local 215 for over 50 years before retiring.
He was a life member of the American Legion and 40&8, a 75 plus year member of both Clarks Hill and Colfax Christian Churches.
Glen enjoyed woodworking, the annual family fishing trips and watching Purdue sports.
Glen is survived by children, Glenda (husband Mike) Hawthorne of Colfax and Brent Platt of Clarks Hill; three grandchildren, Mike Hawthorne, Aaron (wife Lauren) Hawthorne, and Melenda (husband Zach) Scott; two step-grandchildren, Tyler Reeder and Samantha Hoffman; nine great-grandchildren, Makayla, Taylor (wife Kaitlyn), Tatum, Joe, Jayden, Bronx, Max, Miller, and Jordyn and a sister, Anita Barker of Royal Center.
Glen was preceded in death by his parents, wife and a sister, Pluma Cornell.
Visitation will be from 11:00 am until the time of the service at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at Colfax Christian Church, 314 South Clark Street, Colfax, IN 46035 with pastors Jeff Stedge and Gregg Nydegger officiating. Interment will follow at Plainview Cemetery in Colfax.
