Glen Ray Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Hardwick Funeral Home, Inc. on Dec. 27, 2025.
Conway, South Carolina
Mr. Glen Hopkins Ray, age 82, passed away on Monday, December 22, 2025, at his home. Born on February 22, 1943, in Conway, SC, he was the son of the late Rev. Preston Leroy Ray and the late Fannie Gerrald Ray. Mr. Ray was employed with Conway Medical Center, where he worked as a supply and delivery driver and was well known for "cutting up" with both staff and patients. In his personal life, he enjoyed golf, bowling, and dancing the shag. Above all else, he cherished spending quality time with his family and was always looking forward to the next family vacation or gathering with his brothers, sisters, and their families. Mr. Ray never met a stranger and was affectionately known as "Papa". Although his presence, warmth, and love will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in our hearts.
Survivors include his son, Nicholas G. Ray (Dessie); longtime companion, Joann A. Crenshaw, and her children, Dawne A. Crenshaw, and R. Clay Crenshaw; grandchildren, Amber R. Montgomery, Nicholas J. Ray, Mary Ashlyn Crenshaw, Andrew J. Crenshaw, Jacob C. Crenshaw, Emma G. Crenshaw, and Sydney L. Crenshaw; brothers, Rev. Wendell Gerald Ray (Jenell), and Larry Ray (Sheila); sister, Tinny Florene Paul; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who he adored.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Ray was predeceased by his brothers, Jack Ray, and Billy Ray; sister, Johnnie Jean Redmond; and Joann's daughter, Kelly M. Crenshaw.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Please sign Mr. Ray's online guestbook at hardwickfuneralhome.com or call Hardwick Funeral Home at 843-756-7001 for further information.
