Glenda Burns Calvasina, passed away on August 17, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Glenda was born February 4, 1943, in Vivian, Louisiana, to William and Creola Burns. She grew up in Lumberton, Mississippi and graduated as Valedictorian from Lumberton High School. After high school, she went to the University of Mississippi where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English with a minor in Sociology.
Glenda was a devoted wife and mother. After raising her family, she went back to school to pursue her passion for the legal system. She graduated with a Paralegal Degree from Pensacola Junior College and began a 20-year career in various legal professions. She truly enjoyed working alongside her colleagues as they served the justice system. Her final job as a judicial assistant was her most fulfilling in her career.
Glenda had many interests and hobbies. She was a tremendous cook and loved spoiling her family with truly delicious meals. In addition to cooking, she loved gardening, taking care of her animals, and spending time with her family.
Glenda was a kind, caring, and compassionate resolute southern woman who would help anyone in need. Glenda's warmth, laughter, and spirit brought joy to those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Creola Burns.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Calvasina; son, Jason (Tammy) Calvasina; son, Michael (Karen) Calvasina; sister, Janice Burns (Robert) Strickland; and sister, Doris Burns; grandchildren, Macy Calvasina Compton (George Lewis "GL"), Elijah Calvasina, Holly Calvasina-McCrum (Jeff), and Alexis Calvasina.
