Glenda Milewski Obituary
Born in Westerly, RI on September 13, 1943, to the late Glenn and Josephine Wilcox, Glenda graduated from Sharon (MA) High School and went on to earn a degree in Interior Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design.
Working for Business Interiors, a Boston based Steelcase dealership, for 25 years, Glenda eventually headed their interiors department for several years before starting her own commercial design practice in 1990. Glenda also found time to serve on the board of the Boston chapter of the Institute of Business Designers (IBD), now IIDA, and encouraged ongoing professional development education for practicing commercial designers.
To that aim, Glenda served as an adjunct professor at The New England School of Art & Design in Boston from 1990-2015, where she was well known for instilling a passion for integrity and design excellence in her Commercial Design and Historic Preservation studios. From 1995-1997, she served as co-chairperson of the interior design department and helped facilitate the school's merger with Suffolk University.
After retiring from the interior design profession and academia, Glenda spent several years as a member of the Friends of Cary Library in Lexington, MA, volunteering her time to help organize donations for the highly regarded annual Cary book sale.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Dick Milewski. They shared a home in Lexington, MA as well a second (ancestral) home in Rangeley, ME. Glenda was a cousin to well-known Rangely fly-tier, Bud Wilcox.
Interment will take place at Evergreen Cemetery in Rangeley, ME in the spring of 2026 and a celebration of her life will take place in the Boston area. Date is TBD. Please contact Marg Dion at [email protected] for more information.
