Glenda Sue "Susie" Payne, 64, of Columbia, MO, formerly of Brookfield, MO, passed away Sunday, September 29, 2024, in the early hours, at University of Missouri Hospital, surrounded by her loved ones.
Glenda was born on December 28,1959, to Clarence and Mary Fiala in Marceline, MO. She was raised in Marceline and attended school there. She later moved to Brookfield, MO, where she lived for many years until moving to Columbia, MO. She was employed at the University of Missouri Hospital for 20 years until she became ill.
She married Richard Payne and had two daughters, Ambrosia and Latoya. She came from a very large family of ten children and she spoke of it often. She loved family and having get togethers was something she always looked forward to. She was an amazing and loving grandma (couldn't call her granny) to her grandchildren, Keesean, Deandre, and Travyn. She never missed a game or event they were in. They loved her just as much. She would always have that "McDonalds" money for those boys.
Glenda was a very hard worker, everyone who knew her would say that. She would do anything for anybody. She was spunky. She loved the outdoors. She took pride in the yard, plants, tomatoes, and flowers. After caring for her yard, she would often just sit on the porch, relax and just enjoy it all. She enjoyed shopping with her girls and decorating. Doing whatever project the girls would come up with and talking on the phone with her sisters at least two to a hundred times a day. She loved hosting Thanksgiving every year. After every dinner, she would tell Brosia maybe next year I'll just order the food to save time, but as soon as the next year rolled around, a grocery list was made and the cooking began. She also enjoyed an ice cold Pepsi, you barely ever saw her without her foam cup and straw. She is truly loved and will be missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Payne; two daughters, Ambrosia (Aaron) Mozee, Latoya (Terry) Payne, all of Columbia, MO; three grandchildren, Keesean Payne, Deandre Saunders, Travyn Saunders, all of Columbia; siblings, Rose Mary (Bill) Hamilton, Tammy (Jim) Lauhoff, Larry (Anita) Fiala, Sonny (Michelle) Fiala, all of Marceline, MO, Kay (Leonard) Payne of Columbia, MO, Faye (Danny) Jones of Cincinnati, IA, Donna Cupp of Williamsbury, VA, Carol Reed of Moberly, MO, jeannie (Eddie) Etherton of McDonough, GA, and many nieces and nephews.
Glenda was preceded into glory by her parents, Clarence and Mary Fiala; father and mother-in-law, Bill and Helen Payne; two nephews; great niece; two brothers in law; and two sisters in law; and several aunts and uncles.
She will be missed greatly here, but will be enjoying her eternal rest and rewards in Heaven. Ending with her familiar and thoughtful phrase "They were nice"
A visitation will be Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 11 am until 1 pm at the Delaney Funeral Home in Marceline, MO. Burial will take place at a later date at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Marceline, MO. Memorials are suggested to the family
