Glendale Thomas Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Yarber Mortuary - Eminence Chapel on Nov. 30, 2025.
Glendale Thomas, age 81, passed away surrounded by love and memories of a life well lived. He was born on October 27, 1944, along Little Shawnee Creek in Eminence, Missouri, to the late Ernie and Aleen (Dillard) Thomas. A lifelong resident of the Eminence community, Glendale's heart never wandered far from the land and waters that shaped his life.

Glendale was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Gene Thomas and Gerald Thomas; his sister, Joyce Gray; and his nephew, Lonnie Thomas.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 59 years, Rita (Brickey) Thomas, with whom he shared a lifetime of love, laughter, adventures, and dedication. He is also survived by his son, Edward Thomas; his daughter, Glenda Ennis and husband Mike; Sister, Karen Cooperman and husband John; his beloved grandchildren, Kari Van Horn, Brooke Douglas, James Ennis, and Hannah Chatman. He was a proud great-grandfather to Caiden and Brighton Van Horn, Draper and Callum Douglas, Ben Ennis, Glen, and Catherine Chatman. Glendale also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will forever treasure his memory.

Glendale found joy in the simple things of life. He loved working on his farm along Little Shawnee Creek. His greatest happiness came from time spent with family-gathered around the table for meals, playing cards, telling stories, and celebrating life's moments both big and small. An outdoorsman at heart, Glendale enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and spending time on the river. He found peace in nature and comfort in its familiar sights and sounds. His grandchildren were the light of his life, bringing him endless pride and joy as he watched them grow. Their laughter filled his heart and brought him endless smiles.

Glendale's legacy is one of family and hard work. He leaves behind lessons of love, loyalty, and the importance of staying rooted in what truly matters. He will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever cherished by all who knew him.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025, at Bethany Chapel Cemetery, Eminence, Missouri, with Brother Darrell Jones officiating, under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence, Missouri. Condolences may be expressed at www.yarbermortuary.com.
