Glenice M. Higgens passed away peacefully in Rockford, Illinois on Wednesday November 5th, 2025. Beloved wife of the late William J. Higgens, Jr and the late Jerome M. Whalen. Loving mother of Maureen (Rodney) Mathews, Michael (Elly) Whalen, Mark (Catherine) Whalen. Devoted stepmother to William (Barbara) Higgens III and Ann Higgens (Stanley Cain). Fond grandmother of Erin (Scott) Outlaw, Cameron (Lauren) Mathews, Matthew Whalen, Patrick (Angelica) Whalen, Michelle (Christopher) Katz, Anthony (Nina) Whalen, Melissa (Matt) Sommers, Tracy (William) Gee, Baily Shafter. Devoted great grandmother of 15. Sister to the late Verna (Calvin) Flagg, and the late Harlan (Ruth Boynton - Hunt) Boynton. A memorial service will be held at a future date at St. Mary Episcopal Church in Crystal Lake IL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Assisi Animal Foundation, P.O. Box 143 Crystal Lake IL. (Assisi.org/donate)

My deepest sympathies to all the family & friends. Glenice lived a good life. Share a card game with your friends & remember her!
I only met her a few times (thanks to all the miles between NC & Chicago) but I remember how generous she was with her smiles. She was ahead of her time being a professional working woman and raising her family after being widowed.
Thanks for sharing your family with me Glenice. Best work you´ve ever done. Rest in Peace.
