Glenn Crane Obituary

Published by Keates-Plum Funeral Home on Feb. 19, 2021.
Glenn Bowden Crane, 90, of Brigantine died peacefully at home with his beloved Mary at his side Friday February 19, 2021. Glenn was born in Buffalo, NY to Harold and Donna Crane. In June 1992, he married Mary Polifka. Glenn was a service technician in the United States Air Force, and a Korean War veteran. He later earned his Bachelor's Degree from the State University of New York, Empire State College, and enjoyed an illustrious career as an advertising, public relations and marketing communications executive. Glenn had a successful career with General Dynamics, Stromberg Carlson and Siemens Communications and retired as Vice President of Communications at NEC America. Glenn is preceded in death by his parents, son Larry and six siblings. He is survived by his wife Mary, Larry's wife Katie and their son Timothy; daughter Monica and her daughter Nichole; son Randy and his wife Joanna along with his son Michael and wife Jaclyn, great-grandchildren Raymond and Margo and his son Thomas and daughter Kristen. Glenn is further survived by Mary's daughter Debbie Batson and husband Robert with her daughter Samantha and son Michael and great grandson Nicholas; daughter Wendy Bates and her daughter Jade and son Gannon. Glenn was well known for his love of music. His accomplishments included playing numerous musical instruments, writing musical compositions, years as a bandleader and talented singer. In Florida he was known as Super G, in South Jersey, Mr. Smooth or Smooth as Ice. To Mary, he was the Big Dog and to his many grandchildren he was affectionately known as Granddog. He and Mary traveled the globe together, visiting many foreign destinations. Glenn's favorite destination was Hawaii, where he and Mary returned to many times. Glenn will be remembered for his keen wit and laid-back demeanor that belied his acute awareness. At Glenn's request, no services will be held. In lieu of flowers or other expressions of sympathy, the family prefers donations to the South Jersey Jazz Society to support local musicians. P.O. Box 329, Somers Point, NJ 08244 or online at https://southjerseyjazz.org.
