Glenn Aaron Dille, 70, of
Valley Grove, WV, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Friday, December 12th, 2025, at Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born on May 11th, 1955, in
Waynesburg, PA, the son of the late Alvin and Oretta Dille.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Rodric Masteller.
Glenn leaves behind a large, loving family including his wife Joyce Dille and four sons, Steven Dille of
Moundsville, WV, Scott (Jill) Dille of
Valley Grove, WV, Aaron (Courtney) Dille of
Washington, PA, and Allan (Lindsay) Dille of
Hudson, MA; two step-children, Sarah (Derek) Leifheit of
Fairmont, WV, and Evan (Tanya) Leifheit of Warwood, WV; five grandchildren, Lexi and Peyton Dille, Joseph Dille, Dailyn and Daxton Leifheit; one brother, Ron (Gina) Dille of Valley Grove, and three sisters, Thresa (Dave) Henderson of Valley Grove, Linda (Paul) Winters of Valley Grove, and Karen (Mike) Antill of Columbus, OH; in addition to many loved nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Glenn graduated from Triadelphia High School in 1974, then held a variety of occupations, including: farming, truck driving, general contracting, and carpentry, where to this day, you'd be hard-pressed to drive around the tri-state area without passing a structure or house he had a hand in building. He eventually retired from Carpenter Locals No. 3 and 432 in the home he built with his own hands.
Glenn enjoyed a variety of things: hunting, farming, camping, he was on the West Alexander Fair board for over 22 years, western movies, shooting and collecting guns, collecting tractors, pulling tractors, discussing tractors, authoritatively educating his sons on optimal light positions while working on tractors, iced tea, Andes chocolate mints, family cookouts, a thoroughly cooked steak, fried potatoes, and for the past few years (much to the surprise of his family) he had a penchant for vanilla-flavored Chapstick. Above all, however, he loved his family.
Raised on a farm, Glenn staunchly despised Italian food, pizza in particular, and he refused to cook it, unless of course one of his grandchildren asked him imploringly. He could quote National Lampoons Christmas Vacation in its entirety, always pausing to laugh when Clark rockets down the sledding hill on a freshly greased sled. He knew Gunsmoke was the best in film history, followed closely by Quigly Downunder, Crocodile Dundee (he spent the last 40 years perfecting the phrase, "Now that's a knife,") and finally, he revered John Wayne, where he learned that courage is being scared to death but saddling up anyway.
He closely mentored his grandchildren in the values which he had learned throughout a life of hard work-integrity, tradition, perseverance, self-discipline, confidence in one's opinion-many of the same values he had taught his own children and stepchildren through tireless example. He spent many summer evenings in a dark hayfield, long after the sun had left the sky, or an early morning on a homesite, teaching those around him arguably his most important lesson: If you want something in life, you go out and don't stop until you get it.
A tremendous and heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff, neurology team, and palliative team at Ruby Memorial Hospital, who helped Glenn and his family with a peaceful and comforting transition from this life to the next.
