Glenn Fensterman Obituary

Glenn L. Fensterman
Born: January 31, 1928 in Bunker Hill, IL
Died: August 25, 2024 in Cambridge, OH
Glenn Fensterman passed away on August 25, 2024 at OhioHealth hospital in Cambridge, Ohio. He was born on January 31, 1928 to Leroy and Lucille Fensterman of Bunker Hill, Illinois where he spent his adolescent years. After graduating from high school, he enrolled at the University of Illinois where he earned his BS degree in 1951 and Masters degree in 1952. He was commissioned into the United States Air Force in 1952 where he spent two years as a Special Agent in the Office of Special Investigation. Upon his discharge, he spent the next eight years at Bellflower High School, where he was a teacher for three years and Principal Superintendent for five years. In 1962 he accepted the job as Guidance Director at Princeton High School. He loved working with students as a counselor, and had a special interest in working with students with special needs. He retired in 1989 and then worked another five years as Special Education Coordinator at PHS.
Glenn married Dorothy Dimitt in 1951. She was the mother of their 5 children until her passing in January, 1977. Glenn later married Barbara Carper and the two were married for 37 years until Barbara passed in March, 2015. The loss of these two women saddened him greatly. When commenting about his two wives, Glenn said he was grateful and truly blessed to have loved and been loved by two great women.
Glenn had many passions in his life, starting with his 5 kids. He enjoyed family camping trips when his kids were little, attending various school events as they grew, and enjoying their love and friendship as they became adults. He was an avid golfer, and looked for ways to combine his love to travel with the ability to play a few rounds at a new course. Playing bridge was a lifelong joy for Glenn and while none of his kids picked up bridge, he instilled in his family a love of playing cards and laughing together.
Glenn was survived by his sister, Carol (Bob) Weindel of Troy, Il, his children Gary (Linda) Fensterman of New Brighton, MN, Greg Fensterman of McCarthy, AK, Kathy (Larry) Normansell of New Concord, OH, Jan (Mark) Batty of Olympia, WA, 9 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Leroy and Lucille; his wives Dottie and Barbara; his daughter Tina Aronson and his step-daughters Carla Boyden and Chris Huff.
The family will observe a private memorial.
