Glen and Nancy visited us, Hannah and Dennis(Aura's dad), after a trip up the north shore. Over dinner Glen related that when Theo was young, he supported the cause of preventing forest fires. Glen had a full size cut out of "Smokey the Bear." We sang together: "Smokey the bear, smokey the bear, crying and sighing and a sniffing the air. He could spot a fire, before it starts to flame, that's why they call him Smokey and that's how he got his name."

We only met him twice, and our heartfelt condolences to Nancy, Anna, Theo and father John.

I've enjoyed seeing Glenn and Nancy for many, many years on the West Bank and beyond, whether at Father Teska's church, back yard parties of friends, or as our paths have crossed over the years. Nancy, here's a virtual hug to you as we all grieve Glenn, celebrate his gentle spirit, his artistic and community contributions, and wish heart's ease to you and to all who knew and loved him.

Glenn helped keep the Walker alive through his dedication to photography. So much history lived in his photographs and those in the image archives he oversaw. Even more history lived in his memories--so many interactions, witnessed with curiosity and a generous spirit. I miss working with him.

Our dear neighbor, Glenn, was highly regarded for his friendliness and willing to help others. We knew him as a unique and accomplished photographer as well as a music lover because at many Hosmer Public Library World Music concerts in the past few years we chatted with Glenn & wife, Nancy. In addition, Sarah continues as a close friend to Nancy. Certainly, Glenn will be missed by hundreds of relatives and friends.
He was a great man, indeed.
MAY GLENN REST IN PEACE.
