Glenn Leon Holmes

Glenn Leon Holmes, lovingly known as Pig Pen, Drill Boss, and Papa, passed away on January 15, 2026, in Grand Junction, Colorado, at the age of 54. He was born on January 5, 1972, in Liberal, Kansas.

Glenn lived life loud, extreme, and unapologetically full throttle. A true hell-raiser with a heart just as big as his personality, he was known for his love of golf, racing, and speed—always chasing the next rush and proudly declaring, “I’m winning!” or letting out a signature “Wee-haw!” along the way.

Above all else, Glenn’s life revolved around family. He loved his sons, Chanler Ray and Tucker Lynn, and they held a special place in his heart. Most especially, his beloved wife, Cheryl May, was truly the center of his world being married 31 years. He loved fiercely and without hesitation, often saying, “I love you more,” and “I need you to know, I love you.” Those words will echo forever in the hearts of those who knew him.

Glenn also had a deep, almost spiritual connection to the world around him. He loved the land and the earth beneath his feet, along with everything that came with it—the weather, the stars, sunsets, the moon, rain, snow, and the raw beauty of the natural world. He found peace in it, strength in it, and joy in simply being part of it.

He is survived by his wife, Cheryl May Holmes; his sons, Chanler Ray Holmes and Tucker Lynn Holmes; his parents, Aneita Kathleen Holmes and Rodger Rex Holmes; his brother, Brian Allen Holmes; Barb Holmes; his nephews, Cameron and Chris Holmes; and his cherished granddaughter, Kaedyn Elizabeth Holmes.

He is also lovingly remembered by his extended family: Cheryl’s sister, Carol Clark, her husband Tom Clark, and their children Dedra Hilderbrand, Deanna Thompson, and Clayton Thompson, Chery's nephews, Chase Tackett and Stormy Tackett; Cheryl’s mother, Betty Tackett; and many others whose lives were touched by Glenn’s larger-than-life presence.

Glenn is now reunited with his best friend and lifelong buddy, Max, who passed away in May of 2024. The two were inseparable—bonded by cold beer, long nights, endless stories, and plenty of bullshitting. There is comfort in knowing Glenn didn’t go alone, and that somewhere beyond this life, the laughter is loud, the beer is cold, and the stories never end.

In true Glenn fashion, a small service to celebrate his life will be held on February 7, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., at Chipeta Golf Course in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Glenn Leon Holmes will be remembered as a man who lived hard, loved harder, and left nothing unsaid. His legacy lives on in the laughter, stories, and love he shared—and in every moment someone looks up at the sky, feels the wind, or hears an engine roar and thinks of him on that last ride.
