Glenn Kokemor, born May 16, 1952, in Washington County, Texas, passed away on December 18, 2025. A proud Texan through and through, Glenn lived a life shaped by tradition, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for the outdoors.
The son of Roland Fred Kokemor and Dolores Fay Kokemor, Glenn grew up in Brenham and spent summers at the family farm in Prairie Hill. He had a strong connection to the land and to the values passed down through generations. Those early influences shaped his lifelong understanding how things work. After graduating high school in 1970, he moved to Austin and later graduated from St. Edwards University with a degree in electronics.
Early in life, Glenn was a scout. Later, he would become Scout Master. He always handed you a knife by holding the blade and he waited for you to say "Thank you" before he would release it because that was the scout way. He enjoyed leading and teaching young men the camping and survival skills necessary to live in the outdoors.
Glenn loved music and long drives in his truck. He would listen to anything from the Beatles to Led Zepplin. Often, he would stop a conversation to turn up the music so that he could hear his favorite part of a song.
His favorite time of year was deer season. Glenn would meticulously prepare for every season in hopes of bagging a buck. Deer Camp with his father, sons and buddies were some of his greatest memories.
As a father to Nathan and Joel, Glenn was dedicated to teaching them the outdoors, patiently explaining the mechanics behind everything from tools to engines, and - most famously - perfecting the construction of pinewood derby cars that terrorized Cub Scout tracks across northwest Austin throughout the 1980s. Precision mattered. Weight placement mattered. And Glenn made sure his sons built cars that were fast.
Glenn coached his son's baseball and soccer teams throughout the years. He cheered for them throughout all of their sporting events and enjoyed seeing them succeed.
Glenn was also a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and rarely missed the chance to watch them play football, following the team with loyalty and enthusiasm year after year.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife Sally Hurtado-Kokemor of almost 20 years. Her children Glen, Cindy and Selenia will miss him dearly as their friend, stepfather and their mother's loving husband who took them into his heart 20 years ago. Sally's grandchildren Noelle, Cameryn, A.J., Savanna and Davin all will miss him dearly as children he taught them to fish, camp and fly kites out in Prairie Hill where he and Sally put up a great trailer home up on the hill for weekends away from Leander and for the grandchildren.
Of all the places Glenn loved, none meant more to him than Prairie Hill, where he spent countless hours with his grandparents and formed some of his most meaningful memories. That land remained his favorite place in the world. In keeping with his wishes, Glenn's ashes will be spread at the top of the Prairie Hill property - a place that always felt like home.
Glenn is survived by his wife, Sally Hurtado Kokemor; his sons, Nathan Kokemor and Joel Kokemor; Nathan's wife, Megan, and their daughters, Emery, Amelia, and Willa; and Joel's wife, Shawn, and their children, Kole, Karsyn, and Knox. His stepchildren Glen Ponce and wife Melissa, Cynthia Ponce Alviar and her husband Alex, and Selenia Rios. His step grandchildren Noelle, Cameryn and A.J. Alviar, Savanna and Davin Ponce.
In the last year of his life Glenn's faith and love of God grew deeper. Glenn and Sally prayed daily together. It is with that faith that we are comforted knowing that he is now home.
A memorial service to celebrate Glenn's life will be held on Monday, January 12 5pm, at Beck Funeral Home in
