Glenn Mahler Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Par-Troy Funeral Home on Dec. 11, 2025.
Glenn Robert Mahler, December 8, 1940 - December 7, 2025, died peacefully after a
long battle with Alzheimer's disease surrounded by family.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Louise, and grandson Tyler,
and is survived by his wife Eileen, Brothers David (Andrea), and Peter (Linda), sister
Ann Schwartzstein (Henry), sons Jeffrey and Christopher (Christine), stepdaughters
Alison Kokorsky, Lynn Liberatore (Flavio), and Cindy Kokorsky, Granddaughter
Elizabeth Mahler, and numerous nephews and nieces.
Glenn lived and worked in New Jersey his entire life. He was born in Bloomfield and
raised in Teaneck and Rivervale. He graduated from Pascack Valley Regional High
School in 1958 and was co-valedictorian. He received his B.A. in Mathematics from
Montclair State College in 1962 and received his master's degree in teaching
mathematics from the University of Illinois in 1963. He taught Mathematics at River Dell
High School in Oradell from 1963 to 1965. He lived in Parsippany and worked as a
computer programmer at Bell Telephone Laboratories in Whippany from 1965 until his
retirement in 1993. After retirement he lived in Stillwater and then Hackettstown.
Glenn had many hobbies, including gardening, stained glass, and acting in numerous
community theater productions throughout northern New Jersey.
His main passion though was a lifelong love of birding and the outdoors. In addition to
many years of trapping, banding, and release of birds for gathering of scientific
information and education, he and his wife Eileen traveled extensively throughout the
United States and the rest of the world birdwatching in dozens of countries on all 7
Continents.
A private celebration of life with family will be held at a later date. Donations in memory
of Glenn to the NJ Audubon society, or to the Alzheimer's Association are greatly
appreciated.
