Mr. Glenn Dale Murphy, age 83, of Madison, Indiana entered this life September 27, 1939, in Seymour, Indiana. He was the loving son of the late Granville Burl and Elsie Florence Hougland Murphy. He was a 1957 graduate of Crothersville High School in Crothersville, Indiana. Glenn married Paula Marie Blackman on May 21, 1972, in Salem, Indiana. This happy union of 37 years blended two families together and was blessed with a daughter, Shelly. Paula passed on September 9, 2009. Glenn was later married to Wilma Boas on December 1, 2012. Glenn was inducted into the United States Navy on July 10, 1957, in Seymour, Indiana. He rose to the rate of Aviation Machinist's Mate Third Class working on jet engines. He was honorably discharged on September 26, 1960, at Moffett Field in California. He remained in the Reserves and was discharged on July 9, 1963. After the Navy, he worked 8 years at Reliance in Columbus. Glenn left Reliance to attend Indiana State University where he graduated in 1972. He completed his four year accounting degree in 3 years and graduated on the Dean's List. Glenn had resided in Jefferson County since 1974. He retired in September 1994 from Jefferson Proving Ground after 20 years of service as a director of resource management. Glenn was a member of the Madison Moose Lodge No. 765 and American Legion Post 9. He attended the New Life Fellowship Church in Madison. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, reading, and working in his yard. A LOVING FAMILY
Glenn will be missed by his loving wife of nearly 11 years, Wilma Boas-Murphy of Madison, Indiana; his loving and devoted daughter, Shelly and her husband J. Michael Smith of Madison, Indiana; his children, Jeff Gilstrap of Madison, Indiana; Cindy and her husband Ollie Birge of Dupont, Indiana, Pam and her husband Eric Sherron of Salem, Indiana; his step-son, Darrin Boas and his wife Shawna, his grandchildren, Jessica, Jeffrey, Jada, Megan, Jaclyn, Jack, Carrie and Olivia; his step-grandchildren, Brandon Boas and Morgan Boas, his great grandchildren, Brice, Collin, Baylee, Jaelynn, Jolee, Rowyn, L.J., and Jackson Glenn; his sister, Marcia Slone and her husband, Tilden of Seymour, Indiana; several nieces, nephews and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his father, Granville Burl Murphy, died May 22, 2004, his mother, Elsie Florence Hougland Murphy, died September 21, 2002, his first wife of 37 years, Paula Marie Blackman Murphy, died September 9, 2009, his sister, Donna Sue Murphy Mosley, died July 12, 2015, his great granddaughter, Kayden Starrett, died January 5, 2006.
FUNERAL CEREMONY
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, August 19, 2023, at 11:00 a.m., by Zack Shelton at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Uniontown Cemetery in Uniontown, Indiana.

VISITATION
Friends may visit Friday, August 18th from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. and Saturday, August 19th from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the Morgan & Nay Funeral Centre, 325 Demaree Drive in Madison, Indiana.
MILITARY HONORS
A final salute with military honors will be provided by the Major Samuel Woodfill Post No. 9 of the American Legion.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Pancreatic Cancer Action Network or the Diabetes Research Institute Foundation.
