Glenn Reed Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Curry Funeral Home and Cremation Services - Pawnee on Feb. 8, 2026.
Salem Glenn Bernard Reed II, of Salem, Illinois, entered eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was born Nov. 18, 1949, the son of Glenn Bernard and Zelma Culpernia (Matthews) Reed Sr. He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Monte Dennis Sr.; his brothers-in-law Edward Dietiker Sr. and Donald C. Hinkel Jr.; as well as his paternal and maternal grandparents.

Glenn was baptized into the Christian faith and affirmed that confidence in his salvation through Jesus Christ in the spring of 1964.

Glenn spent his childhood attending school at St. Matthews Lutheran School in St. Louis. He enjoyed playing with his sister, Zelma, and nephew Monte Jr. as well as riding his bike and playing baseball. After graduating from Lutheran High School North in 1968, Glenn worked at Lighthouse for the Blind.

Upon completion of his work, he stayed in the home and enjoyed the company of his parents and family. He lived in Missouri, Florida and eventually in Illinois, living near his sister at the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired in Springfield. He continued to enjoy time with his sister as they had frequent outings to have a meal and listen to music. He really enjoyed country music and Big Band music from the 1940s and '50s.

Glenn is survived by his sisters Zelma Hinkel of Kincaid and Audrey Dietiker of St. Louis; his sister-in-law, Tenny Dennis, of Sedalia, Missouri; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A graveside service will be held at noon on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at Lane Cemetery in Osage County, Missouri.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mary Bryant Home for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 2960 Stanton St., Springfield, IL 62703.
