Glenn Richard "Hotdog" Robinson Sr, 87, of Hickory passed away Thursday, January 26, 2023 surrounded by his family after a period of declining health.
Born March 31, 1935 in Hickory, he was the son of the late Garland Lester and Nettie Hollar Robinson. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers.
Glenn was an active member and loved Messiah Lutheran Church. He retired as a Foreman from Century Furniture after 47 years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing in his early years as well as played in both a softball and bowling league. Glenn loved all sports, but was especially an avid fan of the Atlanta Braves and Washington Redskins. More than anything, Glenn loved his family. He was a wonderful Husband, Dad, Grandpa, and Friend.
Loved ones left to cherish his memory include his wife of 67 years, Christine Robinson of Hildebran; his daughter, Deborah Power and husband Richard of Hickory; two sons, Glenn R. Robinson Jr of Hickory and Mark A. Robinson and wife Leah of Hildebran; two grandchildren, Shannon Stowe of Hickory and Caitlin Dunn of Lenoir; three great grandchildren, Taylor Stowe, Shane Goins, and AleiyaWhisnant; and two great great grandchildren, Sebastian Landaverde and Isabelle McKinney.
A celebration of Glenn's life will be held at 4:00 pm on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 in the Chapel of Bass-Smith Funeral Home with the Rev. Dr. Richard Schroeder officiating.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm prior to services.
