Glenn Francis Simmons

Glenn Francis Simmons, 79, passed away on April 18, 2024, after an accident at Boysen Reservoir.
Glenn F. Simmons loved God, his country, his family, and being outdoors. He was born to Glenn Clifford and Josephine Mildred (Gruppo) Simmons on October 7, 1944 in North Collins, New York, where he grew up and attended school. After graduating from North Collins High School, he attended the State University of New York at Fredonia, playing soccer, basketball, and baseball. He then played minor league baseball for the Baltimore Orioles, pitching and then catching. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and returned to marry his high school sweetheart and life-long partner, Margaret Rose (Koch) Simmons. After Vietnam, Glenn completed his college degree at Buffalo State University and started his 40-year career as an educator, first in western New York and then in Worland, Wyoming. During this time, his two children, Jennifer Ann and Randy Glenn Simmons were born. He loved teaching history and coaching football and basketball for Worland High School and baseball for the American Legion team, the Worland Indians. Glenn held a passion for the outdoors, hunting and fishing throughout Wyoming. He shared this love with his family and close friends and pursued it through to his last day.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Josephine Simmons, and his sister, Betty Ann Kibler.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughter, Jennifer Simmons; son, Randy (Melissa) Simmons; grandchildren: Karsten (Regan) Simmons and Taylor Simmons, all of Worland.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at 9:00 AM, Friday, April 26, 2024, at St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church with Fr. Robert Rodgers officiating. Burial will follow at Riverview Memorial Gardens Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the US Army, American Legion Post #44 and the Patriot Guard Riders.
