Billow's Funeral Homes & Crematory - Falls ChapelGlenn Swann, loving husband, father, grandfather, brother-in-law, and uncle, has “Come to the End of the Trail” after a courageous battle with a glioblastoma brain tumor. God called him home on November 30th, 2025, and he took his last breath while holding his wife’s hand.
Born in Akron, Ohio, on October 12, 1949, Glenn was the only child of Hubert and Gracie Swann. In 1956, he survived severe polio. Always a fighter, he went on to play baseball and football for Cuyahoga Falls. Glenn was a life-long weight lifter and enjoyed coaching his sons youth sports in Stow and Nashville. He had a passion for cars, owning 11 Mustangs, and was truly a Ford man all his life. Glenn was an avid reader, studying the Civil War, the World Wars, and other significant historical events.
Glenn was a graduate of the University of Akron. He worked in the tire and rubber industry and served as an Accountant & Controller for 33 years with Bridgestone-Firestone in St. Louis, Minneapolis, Henderson, Nashville, Akron, and Liberia, West Africa. Later, he spent over ten years as a Financial Planner with Prudential alongside his great friend Mike Nichols.
Glenn loved his family deeply. He leaves behind his wife and best friend Jolea of 58 years; son Steve (Mary) Swann, son Walter Swann, daughter Becky (Dave) Miller, and daughter Angela Wargo. Grandchildren include Grayson Swann, Harper Swann, Elizabeth Plouse, and Jessica Wargo (deceased); great-grandchildren Owen and Liam Plouse; sister-in-law Christine (Pat) Daley; brothers-in-law Paul (Mindy) Struhsaker and John (Laura) Struhsaker; beloved cousin Earleen Ashbrook, many nieces and nephews, and his special English Lab, “Baker.”
Glenn’s favorite saying was: “The greatest gift you can give your kids is to love their mother.”
Special Thanks to Dr. Gary Hart, Dr. Marvin Rossi, Cleveland Clinic Hospice nurses Annie and Jenn, and the staff at Justin T. Roger’s Hospice Care Center.
Calling Hours will be held on FRIDAY, December 12th at 10:00 am at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 2113 Ravenna St. Hudson 44236 with Rev. Dr. Eric Tritten officiating. Funeral services will commence at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to your favorite charity in Glenn’s name.
