Glenna Griffin Obituary

Published by Legacy on Oct. 28, 2025.
Glenna Mae Griffin, age 86, of rural Liberty, IL, died on October 25, 2025 under hospice care at the Timber Point Health Care Center in Camp Point, IL. She was born on May 6, 1939, at home in rural Liberty, IL, to parents Oscar Everett and Zelma Ethel (Hofmeister) Jackson. She married her high-school sweetheart, Milton Griffin on December 8, 1957. He survives. She worked for Moorman's Mfg. in Quincy, IL for a few years until her daughter was born and she then became a homemaker. She also owned Griffin's Concrete Country at their residence in Liberty where she painted and sold concrete lawn ornaments.

She was of the Christian faith and was a member of Madison Park Christian Church in Quincy, IL, but had been unable to attend for some time due to poor health. She watched services online as much as she could.

Glenna enjoyed reading and doing word search puzzles until poor eyesight made it difficult. She also enjoyed played Yahtzee and Canasta. Recently she enjoyed watching old game shows on TV, her favorite being "The Price Is Right" with Bob Barker. But, her biggest joy was spending time with family. She will be greatly missed by her life partner, Milton; Wendy who considered her, not only her mom, but her best friend; nieces and nephews, many of whom considered her a second mom; friends, and neighbors.

In addition to her husband, Glenna is survived by her daughter, Wendy Griffin, of Liberty, and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister in infancy, Wilma Jackson, her brother and his wife, Delbert and Marilyn Jackson of Greenville, IL, and her sisters and their husbands, Bertha Jean (Jackson) and Earl Craft of Quincy, and Shirley (Jackson) and Floyd Cooley of Clayton. Also, by nieces and nephews Danny Jackson, Debra (Jackson) Scott, Brenda (Cooley) Saxbury, and Terry Cooley.

The family would like to thank Blessing Hospice staff and Timber Point's staff for hospice residents for their excellent care of Glenna and keeping her comfortable and pain-free in her final days. They were wonderful and very caring to her and the family.

According to her wishes, Glenna will be cremated and there will be no services. Arrangements for cremation are with Duker & Haugh Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the family to cover the cost of cremation and other expenses.
