Glennon Travers Obituary

Travers, Glennon

Glennon W. Travers, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin, mentor, and friend, passed away on Saturday, December 27th, 2025, surrounded by the legacy of a life boldly and joyfully lived.

Glen was the devoted husband of Elizabeth Ann "Libby" (Snyders) Travers and the loving son of Robert J. Travers and Regina (Charlier) Travers. He was a cherished brother to Timothy (Ann) Travers and Laurie (Tom) Christman, and was preceded in death by his sister, Robyn (Dan) Bosworth. Glen was a proud and devoted father to Christopher W. Travers (Allyson), John P. Travers (April), and Michael G. Travers (Andrea), and an adoring grandfather to Jacob, Samuel, Holly, William, Leo, Matthew, Mary, Audrey, Josephine, Amelia, Timothy, and Joseph Travers.

Glen truly marched to the beat of his own drum. In his early years, he loved motorcycles, sports cars, speedboats, and airplanes. A licensed pilot, Glen even survived a plane crash in 1983 (thankfully not as the pilot).

He began his business career at the brand-new Six Flags, where his good looks and charm were quickly noticed by the ladies. Glen had already met the love of his life, Elizabeth ("Libby"), in high school. As their family grew in the 1970s, Glen made the decision to join his father's insurance agency. In 1978, driven by independence and vision, he stepped out on his own, purchasing a small book of aviation insurance policies and founding Travers & Associates Aviation Insurance. Glen built a thriving business from the ground up. In the 1990s, his three sons joined the company. Working alongside his children became one of the greatest joys of his life.

Glen was, above all, a relationship expert. He cultivated lifelong friendships with grade school friends, golf buddies (who affectionately nicknamed him "Rocket"), business associates, neighbors, random strangers, and especially his grandchildren. To them, he was lovingly known as "Grumpy Grandpa Glen," or simply "GGG." His ability to connect with people was effortless, genuine, and lasting.

Family was Glen's greatest pride and accomplishment. He was an extraordinary mentor, generous in spirit, time, and love. His children and grandchildren were his highest achievement, and he never missed an opportunity to support, guide, or celebrate them. Glen and Libby treasured family vacations and time spent together, creating memories that will live on for generations.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Mary Queen of Peace, 676 West Lockwood Ave, Webster Groves, MO 63119.

Glen's legacy lives on through the family he adored, the friendships he nurtured, and the countless lives he touched with his generosity, humor, and fearless approach to life.

Glenn and I went to CBC together, and Libby and my wife went to Nerinx. We came to know them even better when the Travers and the Birkes invited us to join them in a three-suite condo in Puerto Vallarta for several years.
Glenn's great gift was his ability to make everyone around him feel welcome and comfortable. His legacy - a loving family, many close friends, and a flourishing business - reflects the impact of that gift. All of us who had the privilege of knowing him have been positively affected. Glenn will be greatly missed.

I remember when Libby started dating Glen way back in high school. This is such a loss for the family but Glen and Libby built an amazing family together and I know that will be a comfort to Libby in the coming months.
