On Wednesday, September 24, 2025, Gloria Beatrice Freihofer (née Fuller), loving mother, grandmother, and dear friend, passed away surrounded by the love of her family.

Gloria was born on September 20, 1935, in South Woodstock, VT, to Carl and Minnie Fuller. When Gloria was born, her father exclaimed, “Well, glory be!”—and thus, her name: Gloria Beatrice. She was the ninth of nine children and outlived all of her siblings. Gloria spent much of her youth working alongside her family on a dairy farm. On February 19, 1955, she married Dale Freihofer, and together they raised their children, Dale Jr. and Ann, in Swanzey, NH. They cherished time at their family camp on Newell Pond in Alstead, NH—a special place filled with swimming, canoeing, reading, games, and food-filled gatherings that created lasting memories. A devoted homemaker, Gloria found joy in raising her children and taking care of her home. She was known for her skills in sewing, knitting, baking, cooking, gardening, and creating a warm and welcoming environment. Later, she doted on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, often picking them up from school, hosting weekend visits, and treating them to special snacks. She had a unique way of making each of them feel truly special. Gloria was known for her kindness, generosity, and hospitality—qualities she and Dale modeled throughout their lives, leaving a legacy for future generations. Her faith was the most important part of her life. Gloria was one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and a devout member of the West Swanzey Congregation. She spent much of her time teaching others about the Bible and God’s promises for the future. She had a firm belief that today’s troubling world conditions will soon be replaced by a beautiful paradise here on earth—a place free from suffering, disease, and death, where loved ones can be reunited. Her family finds great comfort in the Bible’s promise at Revelation 21:4: “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.” They look forward to welcoming Gloria back in that future paradise—restored to youthful vigor and perfect health, just as God intended. Gloria is survived by her son Dale Freihofer Jr. (Cynda) of Swanzey, NH, and her daughter Ann Elliot ( Randy) of Stoddard, NH. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren: Marianne Anderson, Elizabeth Marion, Sarah Gentry, Jo Anna Page, Brianne Chavez, Sage Swain, Jacqui Parker, and Kyle Freihofer—and their spouses; 15 great-grandchildren: Taylor, Courtney, Robert, Nathan, Daniel, Sara, Benjamin, Gabriella, Elijah, Aleah, London, Ben, Petra, Noah, and Calvin; and 11 great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Dale, her parents, and her siblings: Charles, Kermit, Alma, Wendell, Carl Jr., Wilma, Dorothy, and Maurice. The family extends a special, heartfelt thanks to the staff of Maplewood for the compassionate care they provided to both Gloria and Dale. Dale passed away in 2021 during COVID.

Services will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at 1 pm, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 109 Old Homestead Hwy, Swanzey, NH.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made the West Swanzey Congregation of Jehovah’ Witnesses at 109 Old Homestead Hwy, Swanzey, NH or to Maplewood Nursing Home of Cheshire County in Westmoreland, NH.
