Gloria Lou Johnson, age 94, of Spring Lake Park, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her three daughters, granddaughter, Alyssa, and grand-hound, Hunter.
Born in Newman Grove, NE and baptized, confirmed and married at Shell Creek Lutheran Church. After graduating from high school in 1947, she attended Augsburg College in Minneapolis. For close to 20-years, she held various financial roles up to head of accounts payable/receivables at AGS in Circle Pines.
Gloria joined PEO Chapter DO, NE in 1953. In 1965, Gloria was a founding member of Chapter DO, MN and served in numerous officer roles including President. A lifelong Lutheran, Gloria had an active church life including teaching Sunday School and Bible School. She sang in the ASLC Sr. Choir for more than 50-years; participated in committee work, bible study, women’s circles, Bread Breakers, Smorgasbord, mission trips and special events. She enjoyed attending/watching a variety of sporting events. Besides family, additional interests included travel, camping, theatre, gardening/yardwork, reading, walking, puzzles, campfires and a wide variety of creative endeavors: baking, making (sending) cards, Rosemaling, Hardanger, crocheting Afghans and prayer shawls, cross-stitch, sewing and quilting.
Gloria was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Casper and Clara, her loving husband, Roland (Rolly) and her sister-in-law, Thelma; mother-in-law, Clem, father-in-law, Gerald; sister-in-law, Donna Lu, brother-in-law, Donald; nephew, Dane. Gloria is survived by her brother, Marcellus (Mark) Johnson, and her daughters, Kristi Nygaard, Lynn (Gary) Olson, Lisa (Charles) Munsterman; her grandchildren, Rene' (Jack) Hughes, Dirk (Katie) Nygaard, Alyssa (Tony) Johnson and Hailey (Tom) Bakker. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren, 9 great-great-grandchildren, sister-in-law, Marlys, many relatives and friends.
