Gloria Frances Johnson, 78 of Albany, Georgia, passed away on Friday, April 4, 2025. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 at Mathews Funeral Home at 10:00 A.M. Mr. Ross Powell will officiate.
Born on January 20, 1947, in Sylvester, Georgia, to the late Luther and Maggie Lokey. Gloria dedicated her life to her family and her work. She was known for her warm heart and unwavering dedication to those she loved.
Throughout her career, Gloria cleaned houses. However, beyond her professional life, it was her role as a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that brought her the most joy. Gloria found great happiness in spending time with her family and grandchildren, sharing laughter and creating lasting memories. Gloria had a passion for cooking and feeding her loved ones, creating an atmosphere filled with joy; many cherished memories were made around her dinner table.
Gloria was preceded in death by her siblings: Betty Bence, Carolyn Clark, Kenneth Lokey, Carlos Dekle, and Marion Dekle.
Gloria is survived by her daughters, Faye Nixon (Michael) of Lake Charles, Louisiana, and Donna Burke (Sterling) of Cairo, Georgia, her grandchildren: Richard Nixon, Angela Kiser (Troy), and Tina Sorells (Steven), all of Lake Charles, Louisiana, as well as Dylan Burke (Jaliya) and Dalton Burke (Ky'Asya), both of North Carolina. She also leaves behind seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Her siblings: Jeanette Peterson of Blooming Prairie, MN, Margie Casey of Leesburg, Georgia, and Jerry Lokey (Sandra) of Leesburg, Georgia, sister-in-law, Marlene Dekle of Albany, Georgia, and her boyfriend, David Sheffield.
A visitation will be held at Mathews Funeral Home in Albany, Georgia, on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
