Gloria Lewis Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Jones Memorial Funeral Home on Dec. 21, 2025.
Gloria Jackson Lewis, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of God, was born on september 12, 1938, in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the youngest of seven children born to the late John Jackson and Delphia Lambus Jackson.

Gloria was united in holy matrimony to Ed Lewis, Jr., and from this blessed union came three cherished children: Rev. Dr. Terry G. Lewis, Sr., Kim Lewis, Reginald Lewis.

Gloria graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, Katie's Beauty School, and A.P. Clay Christian Bible College in Kenner, Louisiana.

Gloria's spiritual foundation was strong and unwavering. She was baptized at Cypress Grove Baptist Church in Kenner by the late Rev. Johnny Bell, where she joyfully served in many capacities- singing in the Senior Choir, teaching Sunday School and BTU, and supervising Vacation Bible School. She attended numerous Sunday School Conventions. Later, she became a devoted member of Providence Baptist Church in River Ridge under the leadership of Rev. Simon J. James and her son, Rev. Dr. Terry G.

Lewis, Sr. At Providence, Gloria continued her service as a choir member and embraced her calling as a Deaconess, exemplifying humility and devotion.

Gloria's life was rich with passions and talents. She loved sewing, cooking, gardening, shopping, and designing jewelry, and she had a special fondness for traveling abroad, with Pompeii, Italy being her favorite destination. Her greatest joy, however, was spending time with her family- especially her grandchildren-sharing stories of their heritage and instilling in them the values of faith and love. Gloria's heart was always drawn to the Word of God; she had an enduring passion for studying the Bible worshipping, and praising her Lord and Savior.

Gloria leaves behind a legacy of love and faith to be cherished by her children: Rev. Dr.

Terry G. (Lynn) Lewis, Sr., Kim Lewis, Reginald (Sandra)Lewis; daughter-in-love: Judy Lewis; grandchildren: Brejon (William) Campbell, Ashley (Marrio, Sr.) Porter, LaQuana Nevers, Terry (Sharhonda) Lewis, Jr., Rey'Nada Lewis, Dr. Jey'Dah (Kevin) Fitte, Candace Lewis, Jaz' Myn Lewis, Lorice Snowden, Alan Snowden, and great-grandchildren among a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives, and dear friends.

She now joins in eternal rest her beloved husband: Ed Lewis, Jr.; her parents: John and Delphia Jackson; her precious granddaughter: Tori Lynn Lewis; and her siblings: OC Jackson, Ethel Johnson, Laura Jackson, Joseph Jackson, John Jackson, and Johnny Mae Booker.
