Gloria W. Rawls was born on November 2, 1947, to Ernest and Emma Rhett.

Gloria attended and graduated from Richlex High School. After graduating from high school, she received a Nursing Assistant Degree and worked at the Baptist Hospital and the SC Mental Health Facility for better than 10 years. Gloria also worked at a Hardee's Restaurant as a Biscuit Maker. She won an award for the "Best Biscuits in Town." Customers refused to purchase biscuits if she was not working. Along with working at Hardee's, Gloria was a part-time custodian at Lexington Elementary School for many years and decided to fully retire from Lexington School District One after a long trek.

Gloria was a loving member of the Ruth Chapter #251, F.& A.Y.Y. Masons in which she served as the treasurer for many years.

Gloria was a member of Pine Grove AME Church in Columbia, SC where she sang in the choir for many years. She also sang on the choir at New Bethel AME Church as an honorary member.

On December 23, 1969, Gloria married Eliott Wayne Rawls Sr. and moved to Lexington, SC with her daughter Erika Rhett. In 1971, Gloria gave birth to a daughter, Corlis Rawls, and a son, Elliott Rawls, Jr. in 1974.

Gloria loved to cook and bake Sour Cream Pound Cakes, which was her special recipe for desserts. People would purchase the ingredients for her to make cakes.

Gloria leaves to cherish her memories, her husband Eliott W. Rawls Sr., her children, Erika Rhett, Corlis Harrison (Anthony) and Elliott Rawls Jr., her grandchildren, Shakarah and Anthony Harrison, one sister, Dewrenia Wise (Harold), one sister-in-law, Barbara Rawls (Charles Jr.), and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
