Gloria Winzenread Obituary
August 31, 1944 - October 9, 2022
After contracting polio at the age of 5, irrepressible Gloria learned to walk again. After meeting her future husband at a radio station where both worked and following his transition to newspaper employment, Gloria put aside the pull of her native Ohio and acquiesced to his wish to move to Cabarrus County in 1985. She worked until age 62, as an accountant/bookkeeper. In retirement, she volunteered four years as president of the Concord Friends of the Library and was named Friend of the Year by the N.C. Public Library Directors Association. She traveled to 40 states and several major cities while also enthusiastically enjoying countless musicals, concerts and plays. Gloria died Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, in home hospice care. She is survived by Steve, her husband of 44 years.

I went to school with Gloria at Coalton and graduated with her. A wonderful lady and friend. She did not let her health stop her from trying things and usually succeeded. Sorry to hear of your loss. We had lost touch many years ago. I now live in Florida and am widowed since 2015.

I'm so sorry to hear of Gloria's passing. She was delightful. I enjoyed her friendship as I worked with her reservations at Old Courthouse Theatre.
