Glynda Ruth Reed Maddox of Jourdanton passed away peacefully on Friday, November the 7th, 2025 at the age of 81. She was born in Floresville on March 12, 1944, to Walter Bennett Reed and Edna Ruth (Gilley) Reed. She grew up in Sunnyside, just outside of Floresville, where she spent her time riding horses, helping her daddy work cattle and running Greyhounds with her cousin, Gail Peschke, who joined her in heaven on Sunday, November 9th, 2025.

In high school, she loved being a part of the marching band. After graduation in 1962, she moved to San Antonio and went to work for the phone company. During this time, she met the love of her life, Charles Ray Maddox. They got married on January 14th, 1963. By the end of their first year of marriage, they had Rusty and Glynda became a stay-at-home mom and homemaker Four years later, Janene was born, then 4 more years went by and Daylon was born, 6 years after that, along came Chet.

Glynda would get up in the mornings to saddle the horses for her younger children. The youngins would ride all day, go in for a snack, then continue riding while Rusty worked cattle with Daddy.

She worked during this time in the camp house at the Peeler Ranch, cooking for the cowboys and keeping the camp clean. As the children grew older and left the nest she began working in the auction barns in the surrounding areas. At 80 years old, she retired from Atascosa Livestock Exchange, where she worked as a sub up until August of this year.

Glenda loved to dance with Daddy to their song "Silver Wings". She also loved to travel and explore America with her children and grandchildren, visiting Washington DC, Yellowstone, Yosemite, the Redwoods and most recently, Oregon. She would also travel with her cousins.

Family was extremely important to her, Glynda always loved the Gilley-Thomas reunions, which allowed her to spend time with her grandkids and great-grandkids. She was even voted Mother of the Year for the 4-H Club. Glynda would always say a family that plays together stays together.

Throughout the years she focused her time on quilting and was working on making a quilt for each of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She and had hoped to get back to quilting, but the Lord took her to quilt for him.

Glynda was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Ray Maddox; children, Bennett "Rusty" (Cecilia "Cissy") Maddox, Janene (Joe) Meyer, Daylon Maddox and Chet (Rebecca) Maddox; grandchildren, Bennett Maddox (Maurice Curan), James (Lori) Maddox, Ansley Maddox (Kelsey Moore), Jamie (David)Wright, Loren (Cameron) Renfroe, Travis (Brady) Hill, Ashley (Dustin) Ferrell, Kye Maddox, Taylor Maddox, and Maggie Maddox; great-granchildren, Nickolas Curran, Carleigh Curran, Nora Lou, Connor Maddox, Shyann Roberson, Miranda Titzman, Charlie Mae Titzman, Leyton Wright, Kaylee Titzman, Henry Renfroe, Anderson "AJ" Renfroe and Liam Ferrell; sister, Lea Ann (Karl) Lerich; brother, Gary Reed † (Francis); sisters-in-law, Jean Smith † (Everett), Carolyn Depril † (Don) and Arlene (Lee) Wheeler; along with numerous nieces, nephews, close cousins and God-daughter, Denana Ruth Calhoun, all of whom she loved dearly.

Services are scheduled for Saturday, November 15, 2025, starting at 10:00 am, at the First Baptist Church in Christine, located at located at 202 East Ave I, Christine, Texas, followed by burial at Christine City Cemetery.
