Glynn Brown (Caldwell) Hickey passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on September 25, 2024, at the age of 96.
Glynn was born in Union City, Tennessee on November 1, 1927, to Cecil and Eunice (Brown) Caldwell. She spent the first eight years of her life as an only child, living in the school house where her parents taught, until her sister, Ann Maxine, was born. Glynn enjoyed helping her daddy outside picking cotton and milking cows. As a young woman, she met and married Arthur “Sterling” Hickey. They moved to Oak Ridge, Tennessee, where she gave birth to a son, Gary. The family later moved to Dayton where they had a daughter, GlynnAnn. Glynn spent most of her adult life living in Dayton, with the exception of a brief stint living in Alaska while Sterling worked in Juneau. Glynn was a woman of strong faith who loved nothing more than spending time with her family. She was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ for many decades. She spent her last several years living at Sycamore Glen Retirement Community in Miamisburg.
Those who will miss Glynn the most include children Gary (Glenda) Hickey of Germantown and GlynnAnn (Gary) Angel of Springboro; grandchildren Mindy (Greg) Hoffbauer, Lori (Chris) Young, Carey (Neil) Smith, Stacey Hickey, Josh (Lara) Angel, Seth (Megan) Angel, Sara (Alex) Hackney, and Nehna (Steve) Dearth; 15 great-grandchildren and one new great-great granddaughter; sister, Ann Kennedy of Juneau, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews.
Glynn was preceded in death by her husband, Sterling; and her parents, Cecil and Eunice Caldwell.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 29, 2024 from 1:30 pm to 2:30 pm at Newcomer Centerville Chapel (820 Miamisburg-Centerville Road, Dayton, Ohio 45459). Funeral service will begin at 2:30 pm. Glynn will be laid to rest with her husband, parents and other family members at Fremont Cemetery in Union City, Tennessee.
