It has been many years ago that I met Gordy and Joan at Corpus Christi on Sunday where they attended Mass while in Destin, Fl. One Sunday afternoon after Mass I was in the backyard and a Lincoln Continental pulled into the easement down the side road. Out of the car came Gordy, he recognized me as he came up to the fence and asked me what kind of tree that was in my yard. I told him it was a Grapefruit tree, he said we have never seen one before. I asked him if they would like some of the fruit? Gordy replied " Oh my yes, so I filled up a bag and gave it to him. That started a many year relationship with Gordy, Joan my wife angie and myself. Every year after that when they showed up for Sunday Mass I would come home and get all the fruit from the tree and take them to their condo, usually over 120 grapefruit. I happened to mention about 8 years ago I mentioned that I made Fruitcake and asked if they would like to try one? That was also a big hit with them. We are sorry for Gordy's passing. Joan, Susan, Angie and I are sorry for your loss of Gordy. May the Peace of the Lord be with all of the Cornwell Family. Tom and Angie Fears, Destin, Florida.
