Gordon Eads Obituary

Published by Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service & Crematory - Greenwood Chapel on Nov. 20, 2021.
Gordon Dean Eads, Beloved husband to Bethelene Eads and father to Beth Allman and Kimberly and Allen Eads, died on November 20th, 2021. He was 86. Gordon was born in Bedford, Indiana to Winford and Beulah Eads on November 22, 1934. Gordon attended Needham High School, showing his grit and talent on the basketball court before graduating in 1953. He attended Franklin College and worked at various jobs helping to support his family until he landed a lifetime job at Ford Motor Company in the late 50's. During this time, Gordon also served in the National Guard, 38 Infantry Division; 138th Tank Battalion. He met Bethelene Taylor in 1958 through a mutual friend. They wed on April 12, 1959 in Greenwood, Indiana where they eventually setup a bucolic, country home to raise a family. Gordon was loyal and devoted to his family allowing him and Bethelene to enjoy and sustain a 62-year marriage. They raised their three kids in that country home, providing a natural playground for growth and fun. When that home burned to the ground in 1980, Gordon, with his friends, built the next family home on the same land. He was proud of this legacy, happy to see it passed on to one of his children. He was similarly proud to help support and send his other two kids to college. After his love for family and upon cycling through various hobbies/activities like basketball, baseball, racing cars, water skiing, bowling and playing poker, Gordon's love became the game of golf. He retired from Ford at age of 63, joined a golf community in Lake Alfred, Fl and became one of the best golfers in the park. Prior to retirement, Gordon played in a golf league through Ford Motor Company and taught his wife and children (and subsequently grandchildren) to play golf, providing them all with a gift that keeps giving – well beyond his time here on this earth. Gordon's clever sense of humor, delivered through sprinkled one-liners and producing many smiles and laughs, will be missed. His presence, lined with a quiet, resilient love for family, will be greatly missed. He is survived by his wife, Bethelene, his children Beth (Randy), Kim (Kathryn) and Allen (Tricia), his grandchildren, Nick, Tara, Chasity, Skylar, Henry, Dylan, Brady, Bella and Ana, his great grandchildren, Corey, Caitlin, Dylan and Taylor and his two remaining siblings, Jerry and Carolyn. Services for Gordon will be Tuesday, November 30 at 1:00 P.M. with visitation from 11:00 A.M. until time of service at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory-Greenwood Chapel. Burial will follow the service at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The service was streamed on Facebook
