Gordon Lyle Heflin

Gordon Lyle Heflin, 62, passed away Friday, March 3, 2023 surrounded by family after having suffered a severe stroke a week prior. Gordon was born January 28th, 1961 in Marrero, Louisiana to Talmadge and Janice Heflin, and settled in Houston with his parents in 1969. Gordon married Rebecca Turner on June 3rd, 1980, and was a devoted husband for 43 years. He was employed with Houston Lighting and Power, now CenterPoint Energy, working diligently at the same company for 43 years.
Gordon will be remembered for his deep love of his family, diligent work ethic, grit, calming presence, and his fabulous sense of humor. He shared his love of animals, particularly stray dogs, his delight in helping others, and enjoyment of the outdoors, along with many invaluable life lessons with his daughters and granddaughters. His steadfast support and unconditional love of his wife, daughters, and granddaughters left an impact that will be felt for years to come, and he will be deeply missed. Gordon leaves behind his beloved wife, Rebecca Heflin; father, Talmadge Heflin; daughters, Shawna Heflin, Kristy Peters and husband Jeff; grandchildren Sofia Heflin, Sonia Pelatari, and Corbin Peters; sister-in-law, Gwen Juarez and husband Luis; and numerous other aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Gordon is preceded in death by his mother, Janice Heflin.
A celebration of life and memorial service for Gordon will be held on Sunday, March 12, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at the First Colony Church of Christ, located at 2140 First Colony Blvd., Sugar Land, TX 77479.
