Gordon Leo Holmes 1939 - 2024
Gordon L Holmes, loving husband, esteemed father, and beloved patriarch passed away peacefully in his home on March 3rd, 2024 surrounded by loved ones. He was a beacon of support and a pillar of strength, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, determination, and boundless love.
Gordon was born on September 1st, 1939 in Kane, Illinois surrounded by three loving siblings. He embarked on a remarkable journey in pursuit of knowledge and determination. He succeeded in many careers and passions, gathering achievements while having an unwavering commitment to helping others.
By his 30s, Gordon has achieved numerous trophies in boat racing and fishing between Florida and Illinois. He had a deep passion for anything involving the ocean and sky, piloting, fishing, diving, planes, and boats. Gordon also managed to successfully create a profound business in electrical work, RLS Lighting Inc., which has now been around for nearly 40 years. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Gordon was a tireless advocate for the well-being of others. His compassion and generosity knew no bounds, and he dedicated countless hours to supporting local charities and hospitals and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. Whether offering guidance, encouragement, or a listening ear, Gordon's selflessness touched the lives of countless individuals and left a lasting impact on his community.
Beyond his remarkable contributions to the world, Gordon was a devoted family man who cherished every moment spent with his loved ones. His home was a sanctuary of love and warmth, where laughter and joy abounded. Gordon's favorite time of the day is when his wife and him would sit down together for dinner. He ultimately loved food, specifically his favorite meal was classic spaghetti and meatballs. Gordon's unwavering love and steadfast support were the foundation upon which his family flourished, and his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those he held dear.
Gordon is survived by his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and a vast network of friends and colleagues, all of whom were profoundly touched by his kindness, wisdom, and unwavering presence. His memory will be cherished and his legacy honored by all who knew him.
A celebration of Gordon's remarkable life will be held on March 16th at Falowski Kalis Mcintee Funeral Home.
Though he may no longer be with us, Gordon's spirit will continue to inspire and guide us, reminding us to embrace life with compassion, determination, and love, and as a reminder to savor every moment.
Rest in peace, dear Gordon. You will be forever loved, deeply missed and fondly remembered.

I worked the 25+ years as the RLS freelance advertising guy. Gordon and I often saw each other three times a week. I had no idea what happened to him. He just seemed to disappear off the Earth about a year or so ago. Now I have at least understanding what went on. I always had an interesting time with Gordon, he was a unique guy and one of a kind. We had some conversations that went all over the place and it was always entertaining. I will miss him. I remember having long talks with his daughter when she worked for RLS. if anyone has more details, I´d be interested. My email is [email protected].

Gordon had a beautiful house on lower Matecumbe Key, and he was very generous in openning it up to friends....we had many fun weekends there in the late 70's playing cards, fishing, DRINKING, etc....Gordon was fun and competitive. His voice lingers in my mind. I pray you're at peace with Jesus....if so I will see you again. your friend Donna Glazebrook
