Gordon C. McCardy, age 77, of Algonac, passed away on November 20, 2025 at the Blue Water Hospice Home with his family by his side.

He was born on July 11, 1948 in Detroit to the late Donald and Della McCardy. He married Mary Lou Maher on April 16, 1971.

Gordon served honorably in the United States Army, where he was a Military Policeman, and was a Vietnam Veteran. He retired after 30 years of employment at Ford Motor Company, and he was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son and uncle.

Gordon enjoyed a variety of outdoor activities, including hunting, fishing, boating, and camping. He found relaxation and entertainment in watching old western movies.

His hobbies extended to a love of Mahogany Chris Craft speed boats and classic cars, with a particular fondness for '57 Chevys-he owned several of them throughout his life. Gordon also spent time flying remote-control airplanes and cherished the thrill of riding his Harley Davidson Trike. Above all, he treasured moments spent with his family, which remained at the heart of his interests.

Gordon is survived by his wife; Mary Lou, children; Cheryl (Steve) Rickert, Dawn Collins, Kelly (Robert Miller) McCardy and Gordon (Nichole) McCardy, grandchildren; Jordan Shelton, Morgan Shelton, Shane Collins, Gina Collins, Gordon McCardy, and Gavin McCardy, brother in-law, Ken Maher, niece, Sherry Cosgrove, and nephews; Frank (Annette) Russell and Scott Russell.

He was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister, Patricia Russell and brother, Donald McCardy.

Private Family Services will take place at a later date.

Jowett Funeral Home – Port Huron is privileged to serve the McCardy family.
