Gordon Sedivy Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Biglin's Mortuary - Spencer on Feb. 27, 2025.
Funeral Services for Gordon Sedivy, age 82, of Spencer, will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Spencer, with burial to follow in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, north of Bristow. Rev. John Nelson will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Gordon passed away on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 at Avera Sacred Heart Hospital in Yankton, SD. Memorials may be directed to his family for future designation. Arrangements are entrusted to Biglin's Mortuary in Spencer.
Gordon Frank Sedivy was born on March 20, 1942, in Spencer, Nebraska, to Frank and Ella (Dahlberg) Sedivy. He began attending a Country School near his home. After his father passed away, Gordon moved with his mother to Wayne, Nebraska, where his sister, Luella, was attending College. He attended and graduated high school in Wayne.
He met Carol Burchell when he drove her and some of her friends to church one Sunday. They were married on July 25, 1964, at Woodlake, Nebraska. They lived in Wayne, Gretna, Bellevue, and Randolph and started their family while Gordon worked for local farmers and businesses. In 1968, the family returned to Gordon's family homestead, where they started farming and ranching. He very much enjoyed all aspects of being a farmer. He was a true tinkerer, always building and improving things around the place. He helped with designing and building his family home. Gordon never truly retired, he was still checking cattle and the fences in his trusty Gator.
Gordon enjoyed all things outside, whether it be working on his farm, sitting in the sun, or helping with the garden. When forced inside he enjoyed watching westerns. He was a member of the Rosedale Covenant Church, then later, the Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was also a member of the Lions Club.
Gordon is survived by his three children, Brian (Lori) Sedivy of Spencer, Nebraska, David (Jodi) Sedivy of Lead, South Dakota, Pam (Bill) Koupal of Mitchell, South Dakota; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Andy) Sedivy, Chad (Kenna) Sedivy, Amanda (Chad) Beeson, Allison (Clint) Swieter, Tyler (Carly) Sedivy, Daniel (Kortney) Koupal, Becca Koupal; eight great grandchildren, Ellie, Owen, Mia, Amber, Brandon, Cayden, Elizabeth, and Oaklee; a brother-in- law, Bill (Kathy) Burchell; one nephew and two nieces, Tom Burchell, Christy Killian, and Emily Johnson.
Gordon was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Carol Sedivy; an infant son, Bruce Sedivy; a grandson, Nicholas Koupal; and his sister, Luella Sedivy.
