Gordon Steil Obituary
Gordon J. Steil, age 72, of Marshalltown and formerly of Eldora, Iowa passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at the Iowa River Hospice Home in Marshalltown.
Per Gordon and his family’s wishes, cremation rites will be accorded. No formal services have been scheduled at this time. Memorials may be directed to the family for a later designation. Mitchell Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the care of Gordon and his family. Gordon James Steil was born on June 9, 1953, in Dubuque, Iowa. He was the son of John A. and Geraldine (Cummings) Steil. Gordon shared his life with his life partner of 30 years, Paula Blackstock and they both made their home in Marshalltown. He was a jack of all trades, a handy man, who was often seen fixing something. In his free time, Gordon enjoyed the outdoors, taking daily walks, watching western movies, and going to the Iowa State Fair. He also enjoyed a good cup of coffee but most importantly he loved to spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
He is survived by his life partner Paula Blackstock; his four children: Scott (Trisha) Blackstock of Marshalltown, Sara (Steve) Blackstock of Holland, Adam (Candace) Blackstock of Marshalltown, and Serena (Miguel) Montes of Hampton; and his seven grandchildren: Alex, Taylor, Kailey, Miguel Jr., Waylon, William, and McKennly.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents John and Geraldine, and his siblings.
