Gordon Wehner Obituary

GORDON GEORGE WEHNER
December 25, 1939 ˜ January 15, 2023

Gordon George Wehner, 83, passed away Jan. 15, 2023, in Vancouver.
Gordon was born on Christmas Day, 1939, in Portland, Oregon, the only child of Ernst and Elisabeth (Hirschfeld) Wehner, both German immigrants. He spent his school years in Portland, graduating from what was then Wilson High School in 1958. He attended Lewis and Clark College, where he attained a degree in 1962. Subsequently, he pursued post-graduate courses at the University of Oregon. His initial employment was as an instructor in the Business Department at Lane Community College in Eugene. After several years he obtained a license as a travel agent and set up his own agency in Eugene called “Holidays Abroad.” At that time, he led several tours to Europe. In 1988 he moved back to the Portland area to care for his aging parents. He established a new travel agency in Beaverton called “Golden Rose.” He retired from that agency and moved to Vancouver to be near friends.
In Vancouver he was an active member of East Woods Presbyterian Church, serving as both Elder and Deacon. Gordon enjoyed keeping his house and yard in top shape, caring for a succession of Cocker Spaniels, attending neighborhood functions, visiting new house constructions and the developing Vancouver waterfront, and watching parades connected with the Portland Rose Festival.
Gordon’s nearest relatives are cousins in Germany whom he visited several times. Some of them visited him in Vancouver. He leaves behind a number of close friends.
Funeral services will be held at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens at 1101 NE 112th Avenue in Vancouver on Friday, Jan. 20th at 10:00 a.m.

I didn´t know Gordon passed. He was a close neighbor and friend of ours. Usually didn´t see each other during winter time. We always loved seeing him and his dog "Toby" go by our home. He always has a nice well kept home. God received a great man and we´ll miss him. Our prayers are for him. I would´ve been at his funeral had I known. Herb and Donna Wheeler
