Grace Caputo

Grace Caputo, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, passed peacefully in her sleep on Sunday, October 12, 2025. She was 97 years old.

Born October 5, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York, Grazia Flammia was the third of four children of Teresa and Francesco Flammia. She was a seamstress by trade, and sewed well into her adult life. In 1958, she married Francesco Caputo, an Italian immigrant, and they raised their three boys in Queens, New York. The family then spent nearly 20 years in the Poconos, Pennsylvania, eventually migrating to Melbourne, Florida.

In her final years, Grace loved spending time with her family, and found joy in so many small things-bunches of flowers with baby's breath and pink roses, chocolate eclairs, single malt scotch, and television shows about everything from detectives to midwives. She never turned down a bite of chocolate and ice cream or a glass of red wine with dinner.

A devout Catholic, Grace led a long, full life, and was admired for her profound resilience in the face of challenging times. She was a source of stability, comfort, and happiness to all of us who knew and loved her.

Grace was preceded in death by her husband, siblings, and her beloved grandson, Michael.

She is survived by her children, Joseph, Frank, and Anthony; her daughter-in-law, Debra; her grandchildren, Nicole, Francesca, Jennifer, and Giuseppe; and her great-grandchildren, Graziella and Milo.
