Grace G. Chase nee Day
January 21, 1937 - January 08, 2025.
Grace left her earthly being to go sit at Jesus' feet on Wednesday January 8, 2025, at home in Milliken, Colorado
with her daughter by her side. Grace was born at home on January 21, 1937, in West Blocton, Alabama to Gertie
and Ellis Day, she was the middle child of five. Grace was a precocious tom boy, who loved to tag along with her only brother
Bill running in the woods all day. Grace was born with such a sweet aura that she was tasked with tearing down wasp and
hornet’s nests and gathering honey from the bees as they never stung her. To know Grace was to love her, she never met a
stranger and welcomed all with her sweet southern charm, living her life full of love, warmth and light. She was a master
seamstress as well as a master tinkerer, she could fix just about anything.
In 1954, Grace gave birth to her first baby, a daughter named Debra Kay and in 1956 she gave birth to her second
child, a daughter named Beverly Jo. She was so proud of her girls, making them identical pretty dresses to wear when she
paraded them downtown (a small town) to show everyone her pretty girls. She was so proud of them and still is from heaven.
Grace loved life and lived it with curiosity and wonder, she always wanted to know the why of everything she encountered and
loved spending time with her family and teaching all the grands and great grands how to do things, from hand sewing, making
biscuits and making leprechaun traps to making up a gibberish language to play with the littles. She was the type of nanny to
sprinkle baby powder in the hallway so the kids could “skate” in their socks, never mind the mess it made.
She is survived by her daughters, Debra Kay Wadelton and Beverly Jo and husband Richard Branda, along with
her grandchildren, Joshua and wife Rona Hutto, Amanda and husband Aaron Shepard, John and wife Nicole
Branda and her 7 great grands Lucas Hutto, Dakota Shepard, Haley Hutto, Laura Jo Branda, Mia Hutto,
Julia Branda, and baby Cal Branda. Along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Grace is proceeded in death by her parents Walter Ellis Day and Gertie Julia Amanda Day nee Ogelsby, along with
her four siblings, Ida Marler nee Day, William “Bill” Day, Mary Payne nee Day, and Joyce Day.
