Rome, NY
Grace C. Crossley 90, of Rome passed away peacefully at her daughter's home surrounded by the love of her family on Friday June 23, 2023.
She was born on May 8, 1933, in Port Jefferson, NY, a daughter of the late George and Grace (Blake) Kappenberg. On September 12, 1953, in Patchogue, NY, she was united in marriage to Jack D. Crossley, a blessed union of 69 years. Mr. Crossley passed away on August 15, 2022.
Grace is remembered by her family as a loving wife, mother, grand and great grandmother who cherished the time that she spent with her family. She loved ceramics, gardening, hummingbirds and especially enjoyed traveling with her husband. She devoted her life to caring for her family, a job she truly appreciated and enjoyed. She will be sadly missed by her many family members and friends.
She is survived by her children, Dana (Daniel) Cook of Taberg, NY, Kent (Deana) Crossley of TN., Lori (Bruce) Schardt of CO., and Teri Niedzielski of Stittville, NY. She leaves her grandchildren, Erin (Christopher) Vona, Tracie (Richard) Forbes, Sarah (Sean) Hooper, Reed Crossley, Jaclyn (Randy) Cline, Christopher (Sydney) Schardt, Jason (Joann) Niedzielski, Mark Niedzielski, Casmir (Melissa) Niedzielski, her great grandchildren, Evelyn, Declan, Sofia, Autumn, Summer, Collins, Edward, and Brahn. She also leaves her brother-in-law Fay (Donna) Crossley and nephew, John Caldwell. She was predeceased by her sister Shirley Davis, nephew Wayne Roberts, and son-in-law Edward Niedzielski.
The family would like to thank Brittany, Gabby, Bella, and Hospice & Palliative Care for the wonderful care and compassion given to Grace during her illness.
A memorial service will be held on Monday July 24th at 6:00 pm at the Stittville United Methodist Church 9070 Main St. Stittville with calling hours from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice and Palliative Care of Oneida, Herkimer, and Eastern Madison Counties. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. Holland Patent.
