Whitinsville- Grace E. Gough, 100, of Brighton formerly of Whitinsville, passed away peacefully on Thurs. May 5, 2022 after a long beautiful life.
She is survived by her daughter, Diane Daria of Brighton, as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Raymond O. Daugaweet Jr.; and 4 siblings, James A. Gough, Geoffrey S. Gough, Constance L. Bloom, and Barbara E. Heinemann.
Born in Whitinsville on July 9, 1921 she was the daughter of Geoffrey T. and Grace A. (Conlin) Gough and grew up in the area, before moving to Ware, MA at age 10. She attended Ware High School and after graduation attended nursing school like her sisters but, decided it was not for her. She went back to school for secretarial studies and moved to Oakland, CA in 1956. She worked many years as a Supervisor for American Mutual Insurance Co. in Boston, and then as an Executive Secretary for Union Bank in Oakland, where she worked until her retirement in 1986.
Grace enjoyed reading, socializing, and travelling, especially overseas. She moved back to the Boston area in 2008 and spent 10 years at the Providence House Assisted Living Facility in Brighton. She was very happy there and liked attending their concerts and going on trips. She had been a resident of the Brighton House the past 3 years. Grace was a lovely woman, with a positive spirit, who always greeted people with a smile, and enjoyed getting dolled up and dressing nice.
Grace's Catholic funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, July 7, 2022 at 10 AM in St. Patrick's Church, 1 Cross St., Whitinsville. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery.
