Grace Olson Obituary

Grace A. Olson
Born: July 25, 1930 in Rock Township, IL
Died: July 21, 2024 in Aurora, IL
Grace A. Olson, 93, of Oswego, Illinois, died Sunday, July 21st, 2024, with her family by her side at Ascension Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, IL. She was born July 25th, 1930, in Little Rock Township, IL, the daughter of the late Andrew and Mayme Nelson.
She was united in marriage to Wayne A. Olson on July 31st, 1949, at the Sugar Grove United Methodist Church in Sugar Grove, IL. They were happily married for nearly 75 years. She worked as a secretary at Alexander Lumber Company in Oswego, a bookkeeper for Olson's Shell Gas Station, which her husband 'Ole' operated in Oswego, a realtor for Jim Harvey Real Estate in Oswego, and a bookkeeper for KKC Imaging Systems.
Grace loved to paint, read, and take pictures, but her favorite hobby was puzzles. She always had at least one puzzle out on the card table in the living room where friends and family alike would add pieces as they stopped by to visit. She enjoyed watching game shows and was an expert at Wheel of Fortune.
Grace and Wayne loved to travel in their RV and spent many winters in Bradenton, Florida, which she called "my home away from home." They traveled to multiple countries and all fifty states, culminating in an Alaskan cruise for their 50th anniversary.
Grace was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She especially enjoyed spoiling her grandkids. She was so kind and always had a warm smile. She was a dear friend to all, who left a lasting impact upon everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne 'Ole' Olson, daughter Patti Wolff, son Brian Olson, three grandchildren: Brett Wolff, Ryan Olson, and Dana Olson, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Ruth Krieghbaum, three brothers: Charles Nelson, Glenn Nelson, and Louis Nelson, a brother in infancy, half-brother Thomas Nelson, and half-sister Esther Nelson.
Visitation will take place Friday, July 26th, 2024, from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at DUNN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME with CREMATORY, 1801 Douglas Road, Oswego, IL.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 27th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Funeral Home. The burial will follow at Lincoln Memorial Park in Aurora, IL.
Memorials may be directed to the Oswego American Legion Post 675, 9 W Washington Street, Oswego, IL 60543.

My condolences to Wayne and the rest of the family. Grace was a treasure - always a smile for everyone. I've known Grace and Wayne since I was in grade school and I am 71. Wayne and my father Chet bowled together so the couples saw each other socially. What a great couple they made.
