Gracie Brown Obituary

Visit the Williamson & Sons Funeral Home website to view the full obituary.
Gracie Mae Morton Coln Brown was born on September 29, 1929 in Corinth, MS, the daughter of the late Albert Roscoe and Mary Leoma Morton.

She was united in marriage on July 17, 1948 to the late Roy Russell Coln. Gracie and Roy lived in Michie, TN where they raised their two children. In 1994 they moved to Soddy Daisy, TN to be close to their son. They had been married almost 52 years, when Roy passed away in 2000.

Gracie then married William David Brown, of Corinth, MS. They lived in Soddy Daisy, TN and were married 17 years when David passed away in 2017.

Gracie departed this life on November 24, 2025 at the age of 96 years and 2 months. She was a member of New Salem Baptist Church in Soddy Daisy, TN. She was a devout Christian, daily Bible reader and prayer warrior.

Gracie enjoyed a long life. She will be remembered for her love of painting on canvas, a pastime she began in 1960 and continued throughout her life. It was not unusual to see stacks of 16x20 canvases around her, covered with her renditions of flowers, houses and landscapes. She shared them freely with family and friends.

She is survived by two children: Danzel Fred Coln and wife Celinda of Sale Creek, TN and Patsy "Patti" Coln Yurick of Holiday, FL. Additional survivors include her sister: Nelda Coley and husband Wayne of Meridian, MS; four grandchildren: Russell Coln and wife Nicole of Soddy Daisy, TN, Susan Coln Pavis and husband Philip of Graysville, TN, Jake Yurick and wife Breanna of Hudson, FL and Ivy Rose Thomas of Holiday, FL; nine great grandchildren, Devin Smith, Bryce Coln, Teagan Coln, Ronin Coln, Noah Pavis, Eden Pavis, Seth Pavis, Skyler Yurick, Phoenix Hamm and much loved nieces and nephews.

Gracie was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Roscoe Morton and Mary Leoma Morton of Corinth, MS; two brothers: Albert Lee Morton and Billy Joe Morton; two sisters: Tressie Nell Sweatman and Betty Jane Phifer.

A celebration of life for Gracie Brown will be held in the funeral home chapel at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, with interment to follow at Hamilton County Memorial Park. Rev. Tim Edwards will officiate the service. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 3:00 till 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 2, 2025 and prior to services from 12:00 till 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
