Grady Sue, age 81, was welcomed into her heavenly home Tuesday morning, November 8, 2022. Sue was the third child of the late Grady and Ruby Pennington of Ponce de Leon, Florida. She graduated from Ponce de Leon High School with the class of 1959. Sue played in the high school band and sang solos in church and for weddings, being accompanied by her sister, Pauline as pianist. She also served as church pianist in several churches and gave piano lessons as well. Sue began working as a telephone operator for Southern Bell in Pensacola, Fort Lauderdale, and Chipley until finally retiring from the Engineering Department in Panama City.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Pauline Luechauer.
The remaining family, an older sister, Lavelle Brooks; brother, Charles Pennington; and younger sister, Glendine Haneline are trusting our Lord and Savior to give the strength to accept her untimely departure. We miss her sweet smile and loving disposition. She will also be missed by her nieces, nephews and friends who held a special place in her heart.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 19, 2022, in the chapel of Davis-Watkins Funeral Home, 1474 State Highway 83 North, DeFuniak Springs, Florida, beginning at 1 p.m. with Dr. Kenneth Harrison and Reverend John Chance officiating. A time of visitation will be held one hour prior in the chapel. Committal services will follow at New Ponce de Leon Cemetery.
